The species
The toco toucan is the largest toucan species, instantly recognisable by its orange bill — nearly half its body length but hollow and lightweight, built from thin bone struts like honeycomb. It plucks fruit from branches too thin to support its weight, then tosses morsels into the air to swallow.
Habitat in Brazil
Tropical rainforest, savanna woodland, and forest edges across central and eastern South America suit toco toucans. Brazil's Pantanal and Amazon basin are prime territory, along with Bolivia and Argentina.

Conservation status
